While going to the grocery store is frequently a boring—and even dreaded—task, several Publix stores in the popular southern region have recently made it more enjoyable. Then how!
Customers can now enjoy wine and beer as part of the Publix Pours program, a café-like store amenity, at the bar or while doing their shopping.
Talk about meaning business when it says "Where shopping is a pleasure." Publix states on their website, "...whether it's happy hour, Sunday fun day, or basically anytime, you can have a drink at Pours."
Fox35 Orlando reports that all eight of the chain's Publix GreenWise Markets, which specialize in organic groceries, also sell Publix Pours. In the future, the company intends to open additional locations for these venues.
In Tallahassee, a GreenWise Market, Publix Pours was initially introduced in 2018. The grocery store concept also offers coffee, tea, kombucha on tap, smoothies, and açai bowls in addition to alcoholic beverages.
However, Publix has recently made news for more than just introducing alcoholic beverages. The employee-owned grocery chain has launched 10 new shops just this fall, debuting four of them in a single week—twice.
Today, the Lutz, Florida, Publix branch began accepting customers. The company intends to expand its portfolio by four additional stores this year.
Its new Coventry Marketplace location in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is scheduled to debut on Nov. 30, while Naples Towne Centre in Naples, Florida, will host the official launch the following day.
Then, on December 14, Publix will open two more locations in Tennessee: one at Newman's Crossing in Gallatin and one at Lebanon's Hickory Ridge Shopping Center.
