Las Vegas Strip Brings on Another Rock Legend

The Paper Forest

As a rock superstar performs at Encore at The Wynn, the Las Vegas Strip maintains its reputation as a host to the best performers in the world.

Since pianist Liberace started performing regularly in Sin City in the 1940s, Las Vegas has a reputation for presenting the best performers in the world. This reputation dates back nearly 80 years.

Liberace maintained his residences for more than 40 years, concluding with his final show in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace on the Strip in August 1986, six months before his passing in February 1987.

In the 1950s, Frank Sinatra started performing regularly in Las Vegas, and in the 1960s, he introduced the Rat Pack to the Strip.

Numerous well-known performers would thereafter take the stage on the Strip, including Elvis Presley, whose renowned residencies started in 1969.

Beginning in the 1990s, magicians Siegfried & Roy were well-known performers on the Strip, and Cirque du Soleil launched its first performance, Mystere, in 1993.

Celine Dion, Elton John, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Cher, and Bette Midler have all recently had residency slots on the Strip.

Top performances through the end of the year in Las Vegas include Katy Perry at Resorts World Las Vegas, October 5–October 22;

Oct. 13–Oct. 22, Nov. 10–19 for Barry Manilow; Oct. 14–Oct. 29 for John Legend at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood; Nov. 2–13 for Santana at the House of Blues Las Vegas; and Nov. 23–29 for Aerosmith at the Park MGM.

With a hiatus from Christmas through January 20, superstar artist Adele will resume her 24-show residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on November 18. The residency will run through February 24.
